| The vineyards are located between 9º and 10º South
Latitude – one of the lowest latitudes in
viticulture worldwide.
An area of 80 ha was covered by old vineyards,
where the moscatel variety was planted. The project
for planting new vineyards started in 2002, in
an area of 50 ha. The objective of this project
was to plant 50 ha per year, reaching 400 ha in
eight years.
In view of the tropical semi-arid climate, with
a low rainfall and very sunny, a drip irrigation
system, similar to those employed in other regions
of the world, is installed throughout the vineyard.
Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Moscatel and other
varieties of acclaimed quality and suitable for
the peculiarities of the climate and soil in Vale
do São Francisco have been planted.
